Water is the single most abundant substance in the human body, making up to 60 per cent of an adult’s weight and up to 80 per cent of an infant’s weight.

A person can live several days without food, but just a few days without water. Next to oxygen water is the human body’s most important nutrient.

The human body is made up of up to approximately 70% water, which needs to be replaced every five to ten days. Water helps nearly every part of the human body to function. Water keeps all our organs and tissues lubricated. It regulates our temperature; it dissolves our body’s waste products and flushes out toxins. The fact that 70% of our bodies are made up of water is only one reason why we should be drinking the cleanest, purest water possible.

Muscle is made up of 75% water, our bones are 22% water, the liver is 86% water, the brain is 75% water, our blood is 83% water and our lungs are 90% water.

Because water is so important, health and nutrition experts recommend drinking at least two litres per day. This makes bottled water a convenient way to help ensure that enough water is consumed at home, work or wherever a person might be.

If water carries a load (i.e. salts, chemicals, heavy metals, inorganic minerals and other pollutants dissolved, in itself) then it cannot be efficient in performing the vital functions of lubricant, solvent, transport and coolant.

Water is the best treatment for fluid retention, according to Dr. Ronald Robertson in his book, The Snowbird Diet. Fluid retention is just a signal that the body needs hydration, so it holds on to every bit it can! So drinking more water can make you feel better overall.

The average Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of tap water is 500 parts per million (ppm). A jug of filtered water will reduce this to approximately 425ppm when the filter is new. Bottled Water ranges from around 150ppm to over 600ppm. H2Only Purified Water is around 2ppm.
